90 kVA ground power and a tidy cable coil in one enclosure with the 2400 Power Coil

Split GPU-plus-cable-handler installs leave you with two boxes, two alignments, and a cable that never quite disappears. The ITW GSE 2400 Power Coil puts a 400 Hz, 90 kVA solid-state GPU and a motorized cable coil in one enclosure. It ships as one complete, tested, plug-and-play system — no cable length adjustment at the gate.

That is a subtle but important difference from a compact GPU hung on the bridge with a separate retriever. One housing, stainless-steel front plate, improved cable guidance, and 24 m or 28 m of usable cable as standard. After use the cable rolls fully into the housing and stops when the plug reaches the lower edge, so the apron is clear.

PF1 wide-bodies without a special GPU

You get the same output quality as the 2400 Compact GPU, including 400% overload at the output as standard and support for Power Factor 1 aircraft — Boeing 787, Airbus A350, and A380. Voltage quality is held at the aircraft plug. Software updates via USB. The same icon-based interface as the rest of the ITW GSE common design platform.

  • Quick install; less stress on the passenger boarding bridge
  • Space-saving package that looks clean on glass PBBs
  • ISO 6858 (sections 1–8), 60 °C ambient test at 100% load (99 kW), IEC 60528 IP code, PCB mold test
  • EcoGate-ready: first-priority aircraft power; IPM can borrow from the 3500 PCA if the coil spikes
  • Optional Power Share and DC charger for eGPU / eGSE opportunity charging from surplus 90 kVA

How is this different from a standard GPU plus cable pit?

A conventional pit or hanging cable still needs a separate converter, still leaves cable on the ramp, and still has to be commissioned as two systems. The Power Coil arrives factory-adjusted. ITW also offers a 400 Hz cable with a safety device that prevents the aircraft from pushing back while 400 Hz is connected.

Until 2018 this product shipped as AXA Power and Hobart. The current 2400 Power Coil is the same ITW GSE platform as the rest of the 2400 family, which is why crews trained on a Compact GPU already know the icons. It is specified for all bridge sizes and all aircraft types — not only glass PBBs — and the coil is the unit ITW points to when EcoGate needs first-priority 400 Hz in one box instead of a converter plus a pit.
